Silver of the Sea

Editor's Choice - Jul 16, 2015

I have an Arts Craft Fair coming up in a couple weeks and it takes place by Lake MI. So I thought it might be nice to have some pretty beach glass items to add to my inventory. I have a friend who had been to Lake Erie and had collected some beach glass that she gave me and this is one of those pieces. I love the color. I wire wrapped it in Sterling and added a sterling clam shell and a fresh water pearl as accents.

Lovely! I have collected quite an assortment of beach glass, in England and Scotland. Quite a few multi-colored pieces, as well.
I’m planning a trip in September to The Glass Beach onthe Mendocino Coast, in Ft. Bragg, California. More out of curiosity, than anything else. I just want to see how the glass there differs from that of the North Sea in Seaham, England. Hope to find some good pieces to bring home.
I haven’t made any jewelry out of the Seaham glass, yet. I still have to buy a diamond-tipped drill for that. But I will!
Your necklace is really lovely. I especially like the dropped pearl and shell accents. A little “movement” and interest to the piece.
