Swirly Earrings

Editor's Choice - Feb 16, 2016

Free-form wire working. I’m just learning, and following tutorials on YouTube by Jocelyn D. Designs. These earrings are mainly gold artistic wire, but wrapped in 28ga silver. I like mixed metals looks! They are by no means perfect, and the gal on the videos makes it look a whole lot easier than it really is, to get these suckers even on both sides! Oy!

Materials: artistic wire 20 gauge 28g silver wire ear wires jump rings

Linda Foust ...

Really cute, love love hearts

Martha Brownell ...

You did a beautiful job Terri! Thanks for the info, this is a craft I have been wanting to learn too.

Terrie ...

Thank you, Linda and Martha! You know, they weren’t really supposed to be hearts! But Linda, you are the third or fourth person who has mentioned how they love the elongated or modern-style hearts! Lol! They’re really just supposed to be filigree-style swirls! But I see, by the way the individual swirls are placed and wired together, that they do look like droopy hearts. Thank you both, for your lovely compliments.

Thank you, jewelers. Community, for the Editor’s Choice pick! I really do appreciate it. Thanks very much!

Learning to manipulate wire is not the easiest art to learn. I have turned more wire into kitty wampus crap then I can recall….haha! But it’s all in the process of learning and you are off to a great start! Very nice job on the earrings! Keep up the great work! :)

Cheryl Lojewski ...

I love the look of mixed metals, too. Very good job!

Terrie ...

Thank you, Cindy and Cheryl. I appreciate the encouragement!

Marta ...

Very cute! I’m lost afraid to try it, because I know I would love it and then it would be another area I would need to store the wires! Cindy is right, you are off to a good start!

Terrie ...

Oh, come on! Don’t let a silly little thing like storage space deter you! Lol! No, I know what you mean. I have not invested much in wire, itself, and it’s on spools, so it stores on the same spindle that my beading thread hangs on. Haven’t ventured out into ordering expensive stocks of wire yet! Thank you for the lovely compliment , Marta!

They look great!

Thanks, Donna! :-)

Madalynne Homme ...

Terrie, Look at you go girl with the wire! Awesome!

Terrie ...

Thank You, Madalynne! I’m having fun with it! Starting to get a little more brave with each project.

Madalynne Homme ...

I’m proud of you for moving out of your comfort zone. You do beautiful beadwork. One of my best friends is a beadwork gal and I had her move out of her comfort zone just to broaden her skills. Knowledge is power! LOL!

Terrie ...

Amen to that! 😉
