I’ve had this artisan ceramic focal for a while (long enough that I have forgotten who I got it from), and I never knew what to do with it until inspiration struck after I opened the package with these AB Siam superduos. I used mostly matte beads in the design, to make the shine of the focal and duos pop a little more. I love to play with visual textures. The toho seed colours are matte black, matte ab siam, and matte ab topaz. It is 20" long.

Materials: toho 11/0 seed beads toho 8/0 seed beads ceramic leather cord sterling silver

Techniques: bead weaving peyote stitch chenille stitch balling wire coil end caps hammering hand polishing

A flower does not compete with the beauty around it, it just blooms.

Another beauty, Becca. This is so lovely. I love the way you’ve made that super Duo bead cluster drape and fall over the top of the focal. I like the name for the piece, too! :-)

You know, it’s funny that you mention that, Terrie.. that shape is the result of me having to figure out how to secure the back so that the focal wasn’t flapping everywhere and falling to the side most of the time. I did a herringbone y shape and then pulled it so it would curl around the thin part, and that worked :D

I love it when beautiful things are borne of “mistakes”, or even the necessity to “make” something happen a certain way. You did a lovely job with this! The colors are fabulous!
