Amazonite in Sterling Silver

This was one of my early cabs that I cut on my Lortone LU6X combination machine. I love amazonite, a variety of felspar, is fairly easy to cut at a hardness of 6 to 6.5 which is harder than turquoise and softer than quartz. I used crown gallery wire on a 22 gauge back plate and handmade a bail from low domed half round wire I made from recycling scraps, forging an ingot, and milling into wire.

Materials: amazonite cabochon sterling silver 22 ga sheet sterling silver gallery wire sterling silver wire sterling silver chain

Techniques: cabbing cutting and polishing stone silver soldering cabochon framing recycling silver scraps hammer forging wire milling metal working silversmithing lapidary
