My Show Case for the Atlantic Coast Gem Show

The Atlantic Coast Gem Show is currently going on this weekend at the Howard County Fairgrounds in Maryland. It is put on by the Gem Cutters Guild of Baltimore, which I am a member, and we were allowed to submit a show case to display our work. Most people just created a case of finished pieces or specimens, but I decided to demonstrate classes that I took and/or are offered at the guild as well as the evolution of my jewelry from when I started as a hobbyist to my current professional bench work. The cases are judged by the public and the 1st place case wins $25.

I also placed 3rd in the jewelry creativity contest (photo 2 and 3) with my viking shield, chosen as Editors Choice August 17th

and I placed 2nd in the Lapidary category with my Mexican Crazy Lace Agate (photo 2 and 4), beating out my instructor who taught me how to properly cut designer cabs. He placed 4th, his wife placed 3rd, and one of the shop supervisors placed 1st. He’s been cutting probably for decades and also helps maintain the machines at our guild so it’s no surprise he would take 1st.

Marta ...

Wow! Your case looks good and congratulations on taking 2nd!

Wandering Rock Designs ...

Thank you Marta☺ A lot of the guild members loved how it displayed what we do and said they voted for mine. It wasn’t the most eye catching, but one of the few that showed the actual tools and process of going from raw material to finished jewelry.
