1. Tell us a little about yourself
Hi, I’m Melissa, I’m Blessed to be a mom to a wonderful daughter and having a loving man ,my other half, by my side. I have 2 fur kids – Rabbits.
For my other hobbies I recently started a new hobby glass painting. I find it very relaxing. I have been creating sun catcher wind chimes and embellishing them with glass beads and Swarovski Crystals.
2. What is your “inspiration story” — where did your interest in jewelry all begin?
I started making jewelry almost 11 years ago, A family friend gave me a few boxes of beads. They sat for a while not sure if I was ever going to use them. Then one winter stormy day we lost power. So I started tinkering with the beads .After the power was back on I had created 5 bracelets and a necklace. I was quickly hooked. My Mom and Grandma would say my jewelry started when I was little around 5 I would always try to string my Cheerios or Fruit Loops.
3. What is your dream project?
I would have to say my dream project would be designing a piece that would be on the front of a beading magazine or designing something for a celebrity.
4. What has been your greatest challenge so far and how did you overcome it?
One of the greatest challenges for me is trying to sell my jewelry. I have tried online sales sites, no luck. I did ok at craft fairs. To over come this, I just make a few one of a kind pieces and sell to friends and family.
5. What is the greatest gift that jewelry-making has given you?
The greatest gift jewelry has given me is the chance to be creative. You can mix and match colors or design styles the way you want to. You can make your own jewelry to match your outfit and your style.
6. What words of wisdom do you have for someone beginning to make jewelry?
Jewelry is a very fun hobby, It can become addicting .Just have fun with it, don’t give up .
