Whats your Favorite bead stitch/ Jewelry making technique

Forum: Jewelry Making

I love doing bead stitch my fav is the brick stitch, it can create so many beautiful patterns, and its a quick stitch. My most hated was right angle weave, its simple enough right? Round and round you go, ( this was years ago) I was determined to conquere this stitch. After about a week of tearing out beads and cutting thread I took a break to pick up the monthly beading mag, and in that issue was simple instructions on right angle weave, I went home and started again and got finally understood it. I use it a lot now especially when making bracelet cuffs ( snow and ice cuff in my creations)
Would love to hear about everyone loved and hated techniques

Same here, my favorite is Brick and the least is right angle weave. but still use it often.

I love peyote best! It seems faster than brick. Though herringbone pretty good also…..

I love right angle weave, brick stitch, ladder stitch, but I think i really love peyote best of all. I do like doing the spiral ropes too though.

Gee, I guess it’s time for me to branch out from the right angle weave! Which by the way took a bit of trial and error, too, until I found my groove. So which stitch should I try next?

I like peyote stitch its great for cabs, rivoli and bezals. St.Petersberg chain or Napal stitch are a bit of a challenge, and fun too:-)

I love RAW! See my creation, “On the Town”…it’s ALL right angle weave. I really like herringbone & St. Petersburg , too. Aw, heck… I love them all, except brick stitch. Not into that very much. I think I’d have to say making ropes is my favorite type of jewelry to stitch.
Seed bead weaving is my preferred jewelry technique , but I like making findings, too. I would love to do more wire working, but I need some expert guidance in the technique, & I haven’t come across any classes, locally, that are offered in that genre.

I love the weaving technique and doing clusters. I think the Kumihimo is beautiful but can’t seem to master it. Still need to venture out more. Have tried the right angle weave. What a disaster that was, will take some time to conquer that one. Have done the wire working, think it is a beautiful technique, just not my favorite, for me anyway. Others seem to master it very well. My favorite is using crystals and pearls in any stitch or technique.

I like the crystals and pearls too. Makes everything look very fancy. I had trouble with the RAW stitch too when I first tried it. But, I liked the look of it so I kept trying and I think after I watched either a video or someone do it, it finally made sense to me and I couldn’t believe how easy it was! So keep trying Linda, with all your pieces so beautiful…it will even add more beauty to them! :)

Thank you Marta, it’s always nice to know someone else struggled with it. You make it look so easy! Your pieces are stunning.
