Jewelers.Community members meet in Scotland!

Forum: Introduce Yourself

I traveled to Oban, Scotland, this past May, as a part of a three-week trip across the beautiful Scottish countryside. Oban was a planned stop on our itinerary. Only a few weeks before traveling from the U.S., I joined this Jewelers.Comunity site, and, coincidentally, met a fellow member (on this site), Catherine Hall. I saw that she was from Oban, so I contacted her via private email thru this site. Long story short, we were able to meet up together in Oban, along with my best friend, Dorothea, with whom I was traveling. We spent a LOVELY day together. Catherine was such a generous and gracious hostess, and very proud to show us her lovely town and the surrounding areas. I just wanted to share this photo that was taken the day we met. (Hope you don’t mind, Catherine!)
Just to show the lengths we will travel to meet fellow jewelry-makers! :-)

What an awesome way to meet! It sounds like a wonderful way to have topped off your trip too.

That is a wonderful story, and you were both so fortunate to be able to meet.

It was a fantastic trip. As I said, the trip to Oban was already planned into our itinerary before I had even joined this site. It was just a stroke of good luck and sheer coincidence that Catherine happened to join within days after I joined, and I noticed she was from Oban. She’s a lovely gal, and it was just the frosting on the cake to be able to meet and spend the day with her.

Wow, wonderful! That is great they you were able to meet!

Catherine Hall ...

It was truly a lovely day 😊. I had a wonderful time showing Terrie and Dorothea my wee part of the world. We talked practically non stop and discovered we all have so much in common – not least being our love of jewellery making. Thanks Jewelers.community for being the catalyst that brought us together 😀

Y’know, it could be done! I’m an avid birdwatcher, and an active member of an online birding forum. Back in 2002, after we’d known one another for about 1.5 – 2 years, a bunch of us decided to meet in Corpus Christi, TX, for the spring migration. A total of 18 of us met, for the first time, and spent 10 days together, traveling around TX to different parks & NWRs, adding new life birds to our life-lists by the scores!! I believe I added 200+birds to my life list, just in that one trip! It was an unforgettable experience , and most of us are still friends, to this day!

I’m game…anyone else? 😉

Terrie ...

Kimberly, where in OH do you live?! I’m in WV, and my husband & I travel thru OH a LOT, driving to races he participates in, and for business, etc. We’re going thru Columbus this Sat., as a matter of fact !

Marta ...

I’m in Michigan…living in a tourist town …I’m game!

Terrie ...

Let’s do it!

Oh my goodness! I am 45 minutes from Columbus in a small town called Urbana Terrie. I will be at the shop Saturday from 10-3. Then I have a baby shower to go to or I would meet you in Columbus. :(

Terrie ...

We’re leaving home tomorrow around 9a.m., so it’ll be much later in the afternoon, before we pass thru Columbus. That’s too bad. Well, we’re there quite often, and have good friends that own a business and live in Columbus, so we’ll catch you another time, ok? :-)
