Something Isn't What It Seems To Be

Forum: Jewelry Making

Ok…..I’m having a little trouble viewing jewelry that is not handmade. Sometimes we get invaded by other entities that pass themselves off as handmade when in actuality they are not. They use our site as a way to promote and sell their jewelry. Enough said………I’m disgusted………… open your eyes and take a look…………..it is so obvious……………..

Can you give an example. I admit, I haven’t been on much lately because spring is here and there is much gardening to do!

Annah Kay ...

I was thinking the same thing when some odd posts popped up in the forum last week, Madalynne. I love checking out other people’s pages, and “bulk” and “handmade” are rare together. Made me a little sad. 😒

Martin Sojka ...

Madalynne, please post a profiles. We will sort it out. This community is sure for handmade jewelry. Thanks!

Terrie ...

Amen, and amen! I have somewhat stopped coming on here, because of that very same thing. Disgusted. Thank you, Madalynne, for being bold enough to point it out.

If you have been to enough bead and jewelry shows as I have………..and also worked at a bead and jewelry store………..It sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s made in factories in India. While it may be handmade by a great many workers, it’s job is to produce as much as possible to sell. Thanks, Terrie. I’m not trying to stir up trouble…….I just don’t think they should be on this site.

Ah, I think I know what you are talking about now.

Cheryl Lojewski ...

Noticed that too, Madalynne.

YW, Madalynne… No problem. Sorta like my rant about giving designers their proper due, a couple weeks back. Glad you spoke up. Perhaps it’s just me, but I see this site as a place for sharing, learning, and trading ideas, and not so much a place to sell and make money. Just me, maybe.

Nope, not just you Terrie. I had also een coming by less and less when the forum was flooded with what looked to be fake accounts. I love the ladies here. I met so many of you a year ago when I Started, and was hard core bumming when I thought this was okay now.
Glad I wasn’t alone.

Madalynne Homme ...

I agree with you Terrie. That’s what I loved about this site also, sharing, learning and trading ideas. Not about trying to make a buck or marketing. I enjoy all of you who by all means make their own jewelry and are very interactive with the rest of us. And by all means give credit where credit is due.

Terrie ...

Did you send the profile to the admin of this site, Madalynne?

I was on another site, not too long ago, and I’ve stopped going on there, because it was almost the exact opposite: it was so restrictive, that you almost couldn’t post ANYthing, if it didn’t meet so many guidelines. Sheesh! There’s got to be a happy medium somewhere, where we can all just share and enjoy one another’s creativity and ideas, without phonies and fakes, and lurkers and imposters spoiling all the fun!

Debbie Pribele ...

yes, please message the team with the “flagged” items.

We have a beautiful community here – I hate the thought of something like this ruining it.

Michal Bulla ...

You are right ladies, but for us “Jewelry making dumbs” is hard to distinguish which of the jewelry is hand made and which are just pretending that are hand made. Just send a message to me or Martin and we’ll take care of that ;)

Madalynne Homme ...

Thank you Debbie and Michal. I did message Martin privately. Thank you for caring about us and this site!

Michal Bulla ...

Perfect, thanks for bringing this up ;)
