Dyed beads

Forum: Jewelry Making

For those of you who use dyed beads, could you please share your method of sealing them? I tried using a paintbrush, but the sealer didn’t get distributed everywhere. Now I’m using a paint sponge and the coverage is more complete, but it isn’t even. Some areas get too much sealer and others don’t get enough. I seal the beads while they are still on the plastic or string from the wholesaler so that I can hang them to dry. If the sealer gets too thick, then the beads stick together or the sealer peels off. I know that some people sweat, so I don’t want beads to bleed color. I’m using Speedball/Mona Lisa Metal Leaf sealer, which was recommended to me by Fire Mountain Gems. Thanks.
